In past few years, the education industry of India has seen
massive investments in form of digital learning and distance learning courses.
Traditionally distance learning programs were the form of correspondence
courses where learners were given study material which they need to read and
learn. Along with this, they are also allotted with assignments which they need
to complete and submit. After doing this all, learners also need to pass an
examination to get a correspondence course degree. But with changing times,
correspondence courses have been taken over by the better post graduate distance education courses.
All thanks to the internet technology and the better
education scenario that has managed to bring distance learning courses in the
mainstream of education. Beating the quality of traditional class room set ups,
distance learning courses have now become a popular choice among young India.
Unlike conventional methods of education, distance learning programs are structured
in informal settings thereby giving the learner a freedom of studying on their
own terms. The advantages of flexible learning, freedom to choose test date as
per learner’s convenience and low price structure has made distance learning
programs a big hit among youngsters.
It would not be wrong to say that there are various reasons
that play a major role in making distance education in India such a big hit.
And among the so many reasons, some of the key factors that have led to its
acceptance in society (both among the masses and businesses) as a whole are:
·
Economical
factors
·
Pedagogical
reasons
·
Convenience of
timing flexibility
·
Technological
advancements
·
Socio-physiological
factors, and
·
Managerial acceptances
Believe it or not, but distance learning education can be a
solution for scarcity of resources too. Thus, it is the most modest way of
increasing the literacy rate of India.
Being one of the most technological fit education programs,
the distance learning courses have the flexibility to cater to different
clients who have the different needs. Significant progress has been made to
make it more instructional specific which can support the student system
through better software designs.
Overall it can be said that it is a form of
updated education, training and development teaching program which has set
standards for Indian education industry to compete on the international
platform. And for sure the post graduatedistance education courses are surely going to seek much more acceptance
than ever before.
